The following is information about Domestic Partner Registration and the most current information about the implementation of the "Jury and Marriage Amendment Act of 2009" and the "Domestic Partnership Judicial Determination of Parentage Act of 2009."

If you are part of a same-sex couple that has been legally married in another state or country, or have been registered as a domestic partner in the jurisdictions that have been certified as substantially similar, there is no need for you to register your marriage or domestic partnership with the city.

Please Note: If you are legally married, you will not be able to jointly file your taxes in the District until there is further legislative action.
